The refined Italian car manufacturer formally known as Lamborghini just celebrated its 50th anniversary. I was watching 60 minutes with my family when I saw a white Lamborghini Aventador pop out of the corner of my eye.
The background of how the company was formed is very fascinating. Apparently, Mr. Lamborghini, originally a tractor builder, gave Enzo Ferrari some constructive criticisms about the Ferrari GTs being created. Ferrari responded by saying to Mr. Lamborghini, ” Go back to building tractors!”
This outraged Mr. Lamborghini. Anger eventually led to the establishment of one of the most successful Italian car companies of the 20th century.
Apparently, it is a miracle that the company has survived for as long as it has. As long as the company has survived (and thrived), the cars produced have always been expensive, overly exotic, costly to repair, and not very practical… But who cares. It’s a Lamborghini!
